Speaking French, when I have to deal with complexe translations I always first use https://www.wordreference.com
Several languages are available and example are illustrated with context which make it easier.

- https://www.merriam-webster.com/
- https://www.wordreference.com/ (although I am not always convinced by some translations)
- https://www.rae.es/ (for spanish)
- https://en.pons.com/translate (I use it for slovenian, it works amazing)
I forgot to mention this one for the lovers of lunfardo (kind of slang spoken in large parts of Argentina and Uruguay)
