Tim Keeley

I am a professor of cross-cultural management at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka Japan, where the 2019 PC took place. I have lived in Japan most of my life but I also lived in Colombia, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Thailand, and Australia. The languages I used as the medium of instruction at university were Spanish (Colombia), French (Geneva), Polish/Russian (Poznan Poland - graduate school in Slavic languages), Chinese/Japanese (Chinese literature in Japan).
Now I teach mainly in Japanese but I also often use Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Nepali with my foreign students.
I am in the process of reviewing and learning 11 Slavic languages. Serbo-Croatian was actually the first Slavic language I learned while in the former Yugoslavia.
I love trekking in the Himalayas and that is one of the reasons I have studied and used Nepali so much. But I have also studied and am studying other languages spoken in the Himalayas such as Tibetan, Tamang, Sherpa, Ladakhi, and Hindi.
I am writing “My Story - A Life Lived in 30 Plus Languages” in various languages. I combine similar languages for comparison, So far, I have submitted one video in which I read Part 1 in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Polish. More are on their way, hopefully.

Hi Tim,
Wow, that is so interesting (and impressive). I only ever read biology papers but now I guess it’s time to check out language papers too
