Taking the Polyglot Plunge

Hi everyone, I’m Lewis - originally from the UK but now living in Poland. I’ve been swimming in the eddies of polyglot-hood for a while now, never really feeling like I spoke enough languages well enough to be worth the title.

However, with the pandemic forcing the Polyglot Conference online this year I thought I’d take a further step towards joining the polyglot community the world over :sweat_smile: I’m glad to be here!

I’m 30, a journalist, and aside from languages I love reading, gaming, cooking, baking, writing (a little, should do more) and exploring.

Languages I speak fluently: English
Languages I ‘speak’: German, French
Languages I can talk in: Italian, Spanish, Polish
Languages I have a basic command of: Dutch
Languages I have dabbled / am dabbling in: Arabic (MSA), Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Swedish, Turkish

Hi Lewis!
I am very much in the same boat as you where I have been lingering in the shadows of the polyglot world never wanting to step out into the arena, but I couldn’t argue with the Conference being online either :smiley:

Hey Ashli - thanks, I’m sure I will! Glad there’s more like me taking one of the few silver linings of 2020 to dip their toes into the polyglot pool! :smiley:

Welcome Lewis!

I took the plunge way back in 2015, met many wonderful people and made lots of great connections. Absolutely no regrets!
