National Anthems

I have always liked listening and singing to national anthems for literally no specific reason just because a lot of them sounds so catchy. I never find anyone who’s into anthems too so hoping I could find one or two here, or maybe I’m just weird :joy: also I discovered they’re kind of helpful a “starter song” in language learning.

My favorite ones:
France’s La Marseillaise
German’s Deutschlandlied
Canada’s O Canada
Korean‘s 애국가
Sweden’s Du Gamla Du Fria
Scotland’s Flower of Scotland (exclusively due to Amy Macdonald)
US’ Star Spangled Banner
Philippines’ Lupang Hinirang
and obviously mine, Indonesia Raya.

Not to forget “Wilhelmus van Nassauwe”. (The Netherlands) It has 16 verses!

Until 1919 the German anthem (Kaiserhymne) had also the same tune as God save the queen:

Actually there was one match :liechtenstein: :black_flag:󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and English supporters thought they were playing their anthem twice :grinning:

Kennelijk heb ik met You Tube een technisch probleem, ik kan helemaal geen video’s meer afspelen. Zal mijn broer erover konsulteren, hij is infomaticus.

I’m into RSA & Udmurt national anthem, but I’m sure people find that weird…well I’m a weird left handed & I also love that polish cow song…

the lyrics of the Polish cow song are a little depressing :sweat_smile: but the meme is funny.
