Judy from Minnesota

Hello! ¡Hola! Hei! Привет!

I’ve been fascinated with languages since childhood. The first one I studied was Russian, then German and Swedish, then Spanish. Still only fluent in my native English though. Never having ‘succeeded’ at learning another language, I had put away language learning until a couple of months ago when I read these two sentences at yearlyglot.com:

“When you believe that your dreams are impossible, you don’t do the work of trying to reach them. Instead, you fill your life with trivial things to keep your mind off what you really want.”

This has changed my life, I’m back at it–refreshing my knowledge of Spanish and Russian–and learning Norwegian. And it’s been so much fun!!

I heard about the Polyglot Conference last month and I can’t wait for it to begin!

Willkommen and bienvenido. I love that quote. I’ve only really been actively studying my languages for about 3 years. I would imagine some of the little bits about each of your languages will come back easily. I hope you have a wonderful time here at the Polyglot Conference.
