Idiom telephone game

We all know that idiomatic expressions are a part of getting to that next level of fluency. They usually don’t make sense if translated directly into our own language, but they make perfect sense to the well versed speaker. So I decided to make it into a game.

How to play: Read these directions. Then, scroll down to the last post, and translate that phrase into a different language. Your choice of a) word for word translation - your preferred online dictionary is okay, or b) an equivalent phrase. Just translate it into a different language with no explanation.

For example: Estar como una cabra (Spanish)
Answer either a) être comme une chèvre, or b) péter un plomb (French)

If the answer doesn’t make sense, or is completely wrong, that’s fine. It’s a telephone game.

Clear? Then let’s play the Idiom telephone game!

Scroll down to the last post and translate the target phrase. Then come back to this post and see what the original expression was.
