Hey there from Louisiana, USA

Hello everyone! I’ve never been to a polyglot conference before but I’m eager to get involved. I’m actually looking to see if I can find anything with learning languages and mental illness. It’s something that I struggle with and my best friend does as well. However, we both love learning other languages so I’m interested to see if anyone else has struggled with learning a language and dealing with mental health problems.

I do!
I am not only Dyslexic but i have an anxiety disorder and ADD.
it’s great =) =) =)
my thing, is that i have to take a lot longer than perhaps most people to really learn a language. I’m very slow to learn things and I’m often consumed by the culture the language comes from. I honestly struggle a lot because my anxiety makes me feel like I’m wasting my time and running out of it all at the same time. so I study in bursts.
I keep a very neat and very tight schedule and it helps me focus but I tell ya, there are just some days where nothing clicks and nothing works.
it’s never easy but we try, ya know? =)

I’m glad you found something that works for you! I also have anxiety as well as bipolar I disorder. Consistency is the number one thing I need but have the most difficult time with establishing. Still, despite it all I still try and keep my abilities up as much as I can because I love it:)
