Hello from Germany, Düsseldorf. Björn speaking

Hi All,
My name is Björn and I live in Düsseldorf,Germany. Anyone else from Germany or even Düsseldorf area in this forum?

Anyway, I like languages but do not consider myself as a polyglot. After learning Spanish for a while now, I started with French recently. My Motivation is going to the langfest again and visit the amazing city called Montreal again. A trip to France sounds like a nice plan, too.

Hasta Pronto,
Björn

Hi Bjoern,

Welcome! My Esperanto group used to meet in Düsseldorf. I live in a neighbour city. Several times I have guided foreign friends through the Altstadt quarter and in the past I worked in Düsseldorf for some time.

Thanks. It is a nice international city. I wasn’t aware that there is an Esperanto group in Düsseldorf.

Not from Düsseldorf even from Germany (I’m Spanish), but it’s nice to see someone from that city as Düsseldorf indirectly was how I started with German (because I started watching Verbotene Liebe and that’s the city it’s filmed on). I have a lot of “memories” attached to that city and I would totally love to visit the city.

I don’t know where you are currently living, but the city has a well connected Airport. Something for the todo list in 2021. Here is an overview in the language you prefer: https://www.duesseldorf.de/touristik.html.
Yes, watching series is a good and entertaining excercise. I am big Doctor Who fan.

Speak German with me, if you want…

Yes, I have visited the Düsseldorfer Esperanto group once a month for ca. 12 years. Two participants died in the last years. And now we are only 3 people left, 2 at a very advanced age. So the future of our group has become uncertain. The do have a “Sprachcafé” in Düsseldorf, but for me it’s too “aufwändig” and expensive to go there. I know that the “Sprachcafé” meetings are on Sunday evenings and that they have several tables for different languages.

Yes, Sprachcafé is good. But due to Corona it is now limited to German only.
Someday, it will get closer to normal, I hope… And this meetings are in person again.

Hi Björn,

Kenneth here. I speak English, Taiwanese, Japanese, Mandarin and French. I am doing a Lingoda Super Sprint challenge on German, where I am around A1/A2.

I live not too far from Düsseldorf, and I will be happy to meet another language enthusiast.

Hi Björn,

greetings from your distant northern neighbour in Dortmund

At the moment I’m learning Spanish as I plan to spend a semester abroad in a Spanish speaking country.
