I aim to help my students to employ the method of association when learning NEW VOCABLARY. The new verb might be: TO HELP. I would encourage them to find a noun, an adjective or adverbial use, find a synonym, an opposite etc. This way the students are encouraged to widen their ‘horizon’ and be more imaginative with their vocabulary. Once a noun, once a verb and so on. It’s my way to help improve my students’ variety of expression. It normally is very successful.
