I’m thinking about learning Irish Gaeilge in the future, not now, but my friend told me it’s dying and no one uses it. However it’s such an intriguing language to me, and although I know I won’t use to often, I would love to help bring it back to life if possible! What are your opinions on Irish? Is it useful to learn?
Also, do you have any resources to learn for Irish? I know Duolingo exists, but any others?

You should want to learn a language because you like or you can find reasons to want to learn the language, not because other people tell you whether it’s useful or not. Each language is special in its own way(s).

@Sean The Irish language has developed quite a community of supporters and learners worldwide… and while it’s getting harder and harder for the Gaeltacht communities to survive, there are many many efforts still to support Irish learning in Ireland and abroad. I’m in the US and have access to 3 or 4 (!!) Irish learning communities in New England alone. I have participated in Irish language speaking circles on Zoom across the US, Canada and Ireland in the past year, so the language is definitely not dead yet… and resources keep growing for it.
